Jim Irish

I grew up competing in athletics, particularly sports that involved movement. It was my passion. In high school, I competed in soccer, basketball, and baseball, earning varsity letters in each sport. In college, I played wide receiver in football.

After college, I opted to continue my passion for athletics by working in print journalism.

I have spent more than four decades at weekly, twice weekly, and daily newspapers in Texas and Georgia. I last worked as a correspondent for the Austin American-Statesman and the Bastrop Advertiser.

I am currently a freelance writer with my own website. I have been published in magazines such as Runner’s World and World. I cover the major sports such as football, basketball, and baseball, but I also consider the minor sports such as tennis, track and field, cross country, volleyball, and golf equally important. Athletes in each sport strive to be their best.
