Cedar Creek’s Eduardo Macedo shifted from receiver to quarterback after injuries to starter Blaze Orr and backup Dillon Dubee in the past two games.
Macedo lacks the arm of Orr and Dubee. In fact, he attempted only two passes, and the second was intercepted by Weiss’ Garrett Stennett, who returned it for a 25-yard touchdown early in the third quarter.
The Eagles stuck with a less risky game plan, calling 30 runs but were held to -3 yards total offense against a Weiss defense expecting a ground game.
The Wolves (5-1 overall, 3-1 in District 12-5A DI) manhandled a decimated Cedar Creek squad 63-0 at Memorial Stadium on Friday.
Cedar Creek (0-5, 0-3) lost its 30th consecutive game under head coach Josh Thomas dating back to 2021.
In its last two games, Cedar Creek has allowed 119 points and scored zero.

Defense and special teams made it an easy win for Weiss, sitting in second place in District 12.
Daniel Berry returned a punt, cutting left and scooting down the left sideline before hurdling a Cedar Creek player for a 44-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
”He’s not a Division I receiver, but he has Division I talent,” Hughes said about Berry, who runs 10.7 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Kaiden Collins picked up a fumble by Macedo and returned it 26 yards for the score for a 28-0 lead in the second.
Wolves’ Tre Moore, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound sophomore receiver, snagged a 17-yard pass for a touchdown to increase the lead to 35-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Hughes said Moore is a 4-star prospect who has received 11 DI college offers, including from Oregon and Mississippi.
Starting quarterback Jaxon Schad, a freshman, completed all eight of his passes for two touchdowns in the first half. Schad moved up after three-year starter Jax Brown, a New Mexico State commit, was injured in a preseason scrimmage.

Backup running back Braiden Wooley displayed his speed on touchdowns runs of 51 and 27 yards and a touchdown reception of 66 yards. He finished with 107 yards on four carries.
Nick Johnson, the 6-2, 200-pound starting running back, carried only twice, including a 21-yard touchdown in which he ran over a Cedar Creek player near the goal line.
Weiss’ substitutes played the entire second half in an effort not to run up the score. The officials allowed the clock to run continuously the final eight minutes of the game.
Cedar Creek visits College Station (5-1, 3-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.
